Iconic buildings. A city of architecture and art. Third largest city in the USA. Many tall high rises like New York. It being summer, tons of people are out enjoying the warm sunny weather. Very pleasant. Northerners really know how to do summer. Diversely populated.
If you can peak under the bridge you can see Lake Michigan. It’s so huge it really looks like an ocean coastline.

We used this website to find some of the neat buildings and read about them:

Michigan Tower

Watertower
“The squat limestone structure is a symbol of the city and its rebirth following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, as it was one of just a few buildings to survive the devastation.”

Aqua

Marina City

James R. Thompson Center

Willis Tower
Tallest tower in the skyline.

Wrigley Building

And we cant leave out a Trump tower.

Public transit train running above the streets on the bridge above.

Some housing that caught my eye.

Chicago is another food city. Heres a couple places we went to.
Parson’s Chicken & Fish
Since closing a franchise in Nashville during COVID, we’ve been waiting for the day to be in Chicago to have another of of their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches and slushy Negronis. The day finally came and it was cloud nine. Wootwoot!

Another place we tried on another day.
Green St Texas style Smoked BBQ
pretty good.

Chicago serves bbq styles from Texas to the Carolinas but to much surprise, actually has a style all its own, aquarium style. Rib tips (chops of soft pork ribs) and links (sausages) being most popular. This is a method of smoking meat inside a big glass box. You’ll find this style in “South Chicago.” We went to three places, on a foodie list, before finding one that wasnt closed for summer break, a health code violation, and might have been in the getto, cause we were the only white people around for some time. Apparently there was a public shooting just days before. Phew. We did find a place to try it but although the meat was well smoked it was all, so so. Bit more of a fast food take. Id like to try this style taken up a notch in regards to tenderness, flavours of sauces and sides.
