“New England” the states north of New York state. This north eastern corner of the country was just as lush and treed as New York state, but with less hills. Really beautiful country side. Gorgeous coastlines. The cities like Boston and Portland have impressive historic buildings downtown overflowing with charm. There are small little sea towns speckled about the coast with just as much character. Quieter and simpler altogether. Blueberry a maple syrup farms. Lots of manufacturing in its past. Mostly causation, which I was surprised to notice, but makes sense after being a minority in Miami. Also, having a very prominent LGB community, more than any other place we’ve visited. And, yes, there was plenty of fresh sea food from the cold coastal waters to eat! I’ve never seen so many places for lobster rolls and so many different ways to eat lobster! Lol

On our way to Elizabeth Park to see some lighthouses. Springtime.

There was a lobster roll food truck sitting out by the lighthouse! Perfect right?!

Another fort built for the civil war but never saw war.

Just outside our camp.

The small town we were in. Old Orchard Beach. perfect for a long weekend.

It was unseasonably warm when we arrived. Notice no one is in the water. They’re making the best of it while they can. I had to chuckle. Northerners! 😉 I am one myself. hehe.

Another day out and about. Newburyport.

A stop at The Grog for yummy clam chowder and fresh baked bread. So good. Thin milky broth, but full of delightful favour, potatoes, celery and small fresh soft shelled clams. A treasure really only found in Maine.

Portland

Lobster bisque! Lol

More lobster rolls! Lol

I really felt like I was getting my fill of “Europe.”

South Portland.

Maine is also producing grain now. “Maine Grain.” A lot of the small local businesses are using the flours which is how I found out about this. It is very high quality clean flour if you find yourself sensitive to flour. Here are some bakeries in the area id recommend. Yum!

The Standard Bakery

The Angry Donut

We also noticed the coffee roasters in this area had very dark flavoured beans. More chocolatey.
