A city nestled along the mountain valley. Actually, joined by other urban communities that together form a huge metropolitan chain that takes over an hour to drive by. Surrounded by mountains, having low humidity, sun and afternoon showers that cools things off each day, makes for a place to consider living. Although there are lots of trees that have been planted in the city the low lands are naturally chaparral to dessert like.
Note. SLC is mormon capital with over half the population being Mormon. You’ll see many mormon church steeples and a good number of temples too.

SLC city does have a salty lake that increases buoyancy like the Dead Sea. As many times as we’ve been to SLC now, being that we’re not far now from where we began our rv adventures, we’ve not swam in it yet!
Here’s a link about it if you’re interested:

It’s been a couple of years but here’s what the Salt Lake Flats look like. Yes, thats salt. Looks like packed down snow. You can drive out freely on it.

Just minutes away are roads and accesses to hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing, rafting, etc.

Some mountain flowers.

Planned right, you can take a day adventure, rent an off road vehicle and go digging for geodes! One day!
If you’re interested in tours, SLC has the largest open pit copper mine in the world to tour. We did that a couple years back. Its gigantonormous! Yes, I made that word up!
